G’Day,
And welcome to Fishing with Hillboy – an online resource dedicated to helping trailer boat fishermen, women and kids get the most out of their fishing.
Do I like fishing – To be quite honest I would be happy throwing a hand line into a puddle – but I have to admit, I do struggle when I’m not fishing out of a boat. (I know, one of life’s great problems).
Yes, I do realise there are many other forms of enjoyable fishing and you could argue the point all day long – none the less, I’m happiest when I’m on my boat with a rod in hand rain, hail or shine. So this website will be unashamedly bias towards fishing from boats.
I’ll share the tips, tricks I come across in the never ending quest to catch more fish. Maybe even a hot spot or two…
Now, as much I do enjoy a great day out catching a load of awesome fish, I’m a strong believer in catch and release and only taking home as much as you can eat.
Beginners
Check out the “Fishing Tips” sections for a great start on getting into boating and fishing safely. Get the basics on picking a fishing rod for your boat, learn a few knots… and your first fishing rig.
Hopefully everything you need to get you started.
Don’t know that fish
There is a Fish Facts section (including size and bag limits for NSW – other states to come). Please bare with me – I am adding to it as I can. I hope to get most of the bread an butter fish up there soon.
Trailer Boating Tips
When you buy your first boat, you don’t instantly know everything there is to know about how to use it safely and there is a big gap in providing this information. The trial an error method can be very expensive and down right dangerous. This section is aimed squarely at helping you look after your boat and avoid the costly mistakes.
Safe Boating and Fishing!
