G’day,
It’s been a while since I’ve been out on the water with the old man for a fishing trip – but Thursday all the stars and the planets aligned, and more importantly I got a permission slipped signed by my lovely wife. So it was off to the boat ramp we went.
It was a lazy mid morning start which turned out to be lucky as I spent a good hour driving around the North Sydney area looking for bait. It appears services stations don’t sell it (I think I went to most of them) and the 4 fishing stores marked out on google maps don’t appear to be in business anymore. (which is such a shame in itself).
We launched at Tunks Park at Long Bay, which is a fantastic boat ramp and even better at 9:45am on a Thursday morning because it was empty. No parking hassles at all.
Not having had much luck to date in Sydney Harbour and as it was a pleasant enough day – we decided to head outside the heads to a spot about 2km south I had seen on a map some where at some time. After a bit of motoring around watching the sounder not necessarily knowing what I was looking for we picked a place chucked out the anchor cast out a line.
At least this time around we both caught fish – meaning I caught 1 measly wrasse to Dad’s four or 5. Nothing to write home about (or necessarily blog about) however as I wasn’t in a office, the sun was out and I was on the boat with my old man.
Happiness…
I had the iPhone with me and took a few happy snaps and this is how it came out.
